History of the Monte Carlo SS:

The Monte Carlo SS came into production as a direct result of Chevrolet's desire to win in NASCAR. After much testing and wind tunnel work the new Monte Carlo SS was born. It was first outfitted with a base 305 V8 in 1983 which only produced a meager 165 horsepower.
